Beat the winter blues by making the most of these great events on in London this month. Here’s our pick of the bunch.
For a nostalgic day out head to the Geffrye Museum and revisit your teen rooms with this intriguing exhibition. You’ll step inside the homes of 26 London teens to discover the meaning of modern teenage bedrooms. And it’s free!
The Great Sausage Roll Off
One of Britain’s favourite snacks gets its own annual competition, taking place at the Red Lion in Barnes on 25th January. The 2017 judges include Mark Poynton, Chef Patron at Restaurant Alimentum, and Dan Docherty, Chef Director at Duck and Waffle.
London International Mime Festival
The 40-year-old London International Mime Festival includes spectactular entertainment with circus and mask theatre, manga-inspired dance and taxidermy animal puppetry. This year’s festival runs from January 9–February 4 2017 with shows in venues across London.
The first ever 3D printed artworks in virtual reality. The display includes work from three RA School alumni created using virtual reality platforms, which you can walk through, over, under and around as the artwork is created around you.
Chinese New Year
Celebrate the start of the Year of the Rooster with loud, colourful entertainment in London’s famous Chinatown. The parade takes place on 29th January.
The Floating Table
Indulge with Friday nights at Farmopolis, featuring chefs from Aster, ONA, Bastien and el Bulli. And if you’re trying Veganuary check out the Sunday vegan brunch.
Magical Lantern Festival
Head to Chiswick for the UK’s Chinese Lantern festival, which now includes VR, theatre, performances and over 50 light installations.
Winter Lights at Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf will be lit up with a variety of installations from international artists. Enjoy 30 dazzling artworks, installations and interactive experiences from 16th January – 27th January.
Landscape Photographer of the Year
The mezzanine at Waterloo station hosts a free exhibition of stunning landscape photography until 5th February.
