Open House: The Top Spaces to See This Year

Discover the best spaces to see at Open House from Venueseeker

Held on the weekend of September 16-17, Open House is a rare opportunity to explore some of London most intriguing landmarks. Here are some top spaces to see.

Our five favourite Open House spaces in London to See This September

1 – Gap House

Open on Sep 17th, Gap House is a charming new family home that is just eight feet wide and designed with a very low carbon footprint. On Monmouth Road in Westminster, it’s a great example of how architects can create sustainable, low-energy homes that are liveable despite their small size.

2 – 155 Holland Park Avenue

Held on Sep 16th and 17th, 155 Holland Park Avenue, between Holland Park and Shepherd’s Bush stations, is a fascinating Victorian residence with numerous artistic styles ranging from maharaja to 19th-century Gothic.

3 – Dennis Severs House

In Tower Hamlets, close to the Liverpool Street and within easy reach of several London events venues in the City, this charismatic 18th-century landmark has a beautiful panelled interior. The Grade II-Listed house, open on Sep 16th,  depicts a typical Huguenot silk weavers’ home, and is now managed by the Spitalfields Historic Buildings Trust.

4 – The Roca London Gallery

See the unique Roca London Gallery, an interactive contemporary gallery near Imperial Wharf station in Chelsea Harbour. Open on Sep 16th and 17th, the building’s theme is ‘states of water’, exploring the ability of humans to adapt to change, with each design being based on the movement on the water.

5 – Fitzrovia Chapel

Open on Sep 17th, Fitzrovia Chapel near Goodge Street and the theatre district is a splendid Grade II-Listed chapel regularly used for chamber concert of music. The 19th-century building was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, one of the most distinguished Gothic Revival architects of the Victorian era, who also designed Westminster’s St Margaret’s Church and Bristol Cathedral.
