Why Outdoor Events Spaces are Perfect for Corporate Team Building Activities

Team building games and activities, such as those available via Eventwise, are about more than just providing your team members with new skills and identifying hidden qualities in your colleagues. They’re also about offering a break from the norm, a change from the monotony of the workplace. As such, getting out and about in the open air, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings in the sunshine has the ability to bring a wonderful extra dimension to such events.

It’s also a brilliant way to discover new corners of the city which you might not have had the chance to explore previously. Many of our favourite outdoor events spaces are those which the general public might not have the chance to visit otherwise, meaning an outdoor activity day with Venueseeker and Eventwise can be even more exciting and rewarding to partake in!

Our Seven Favourite Outdoor Events Spaces

Varied, versatile, and spectacular – these event spaces for outdoor team building activities for creative teams really are a wonder to behold. Let’s take a closer look, and find the perfect match for your next outdoor events.

Devonport House

If you are looking for understated elegance, then Devonport House is the place to go. Though it is Located just 20 minutes away from central London, it is surrounded by green space and the splendour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Greenwich, London.

The House itself has been tastefully modernised, but still retains many Georgian features. A range of different rooms are also available, ranging from the huge Westminster Suite, which can seat up to 120 guests, down to smaller meeting rooms for more intimate events.

Best of all, though, are the formal gardens that surround the House. Not only are these gardens perfect for team building activities, but they are also spectacular, with the nearby Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory adding to the impressiveness of the setting.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Crystal challenge

Greenwich Museum

Close to Devonport House, and still within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Greenwich, is the Greenwich Museum, also known as the National Maritime Museum. The museum’s collection is certainly eclectic – everything from boats to compasses to a huge collection of navigational charts – and makes a unique and memorable backdrop for any event.

The Museum is surrounded by beautiful, landscaped grounds, and during the Summer these are also great for team building exercises, al fresco meetings, or simply relaxing with colleagues over a delicious picnic.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Its a knockout and outdoor publmypics

City Central at the HAC

City Central at the HAC is a very popular conference venue, and it is not hard to see why. Set within the secure grounds of the Honorable Artillery Company in central London, this flexible event space can accommodate events of up to 2400 people.

The complex also boasts extensive grounds, including the Artillery Garden: one of the largest managed outdoor event spaces in central London. If you are looking to convene a large event, City Central at the HAC is a good bet, with space for up to 1000 dinner guests or conferences of up to 1200 capacity.

One of the huge advantages of City Central at the HAC are the experienced, professional staff, who can help you to ensure that your event runs smoothly.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Circus Skills and school sports day

Regents College

If you are looking for a more academic environment for your Summer events, Regent’s College is perfect. Regent’s College is the largest private university in the UK, and is set within the sculpted grounds of Regent’s Park.

The academic ambience Regent’s College often has a surprising effect on guests. Surrounded by books and Georgian splendour, many people re-discover their inner Professor! This makes Regent’s College the perfect setting for brainstorming away-days.

Inside, a huge variety of event spaces are on offer, each with a collegiate, professional ambience. Outside, the landscaped gardens make a perfect backdrop for team building events of all kinds.

Recommended Team Building Activity: School sports day and Giant Garden Games and outdoor publympics

Twickenham needs no introduction. The iconic stadium is the home of English rugby, but has also become a popular event space in recent years. A huge investment program has thoroughly modernised the spaces within the stadium, which now form a flexible and impressive suite of rooms for all kinds of events.

Best of all, though, is the stadium itself. Nothing beats the experience of team building events conducted in a vast amphitheatre. And, of course, if any of your colleagues are Rugby fans, you can be assured that they will spend the event gazing at the hallowed turf.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Quintessential and learn the haka

Pavilion at the Tower of London

If you live in London, you’ve probably seen the Pavilion at the Tower of London. Standing right next to the famous Tower itself, this modern pavilion makes an airy, light space for all kinds of Summer events. It’s hard to beat the experience of an event next to such a historic and impressive building.

The Pavillion is also a very flexible space. Though the main building itself is relatively small, it is surrounded by a huge area of well-kept lawn. And if you need to invite more people, you can always extend the indoor space by adding further pavilions.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Giant garden games and Crystal challenge

The Conservatory at Painshill

If you want to get out of the city for your event, the Conservatory at Painshill is the place for you. This is a dedicated event space set within the beautiful grounds of Painshill park in Surrey, but still just an hour away from central London.

Having your team building events away from the city is a great way to encourage your guests to get to know each other without the distraction of the daily grind. A day spent in a different environment – and especially one as beautiful as Painshill park – can really help to focus minds, and to help your colleagues to bond.

Recommended Team Building Activity: Wacky wheels and outdoor Publympics

Seven New Conference Tech Trends to Watch in 2019

The world of technology is, by its very nature, a fast-moving one. Every year, we find ourselves dazzled and amazed by the developments made and leaps taken, and it seems that the horizons of possibility never stop expanding. 2019 is set to be no exception, and as the fintech events season gets underway, we can expect to see plenty of impressive, cutting-edge, and next generation technology on show, clearly demonstrating what the future of events is set to be.

There are many, many factors that are driving fintech conference technology forwards, but the central ones seem to stay more or less the same on any given year: new ways to improve the attendee experience and boost engagement, new approaches to conference safety and security, and new developments in marketing and communication. The progress in technology we expect to see at fintech conferences in 2019 clearly follow this well-established pattern, and it’s fair to say we’re more than excited at the potential certain advances are offering. While it’s perhaps a little too early to judge the overall impact of many of the latest technological leaps forward, one thing’s for sure: things are about to get faster, slicker, and more awe-inspiring than ever before!

Here at Venueseeker, we’re constantly on the lookout for all the latest trends in the events industry, and we never tire of seeing how our favourite fintech venues in London are upping their game for the delegates and attendees jetting into the capital. Right now, we’ve got our eye on the fantastic new tech setups being established at IET Savoy Place, CodeNode, The Crystal, and – of course – The Science Museum, which are streaking ahead of other venues when it comes to the latest technological wizardry. As trailblazers in their field, there’s no doubt that these venues will be inspiring plenty of others that will quickly follow… and frankly, we can’t wait to see what they come up with.

To give you an idea of the kind of fintech event technology developments we’re most excited to see first-hand in 2019, we’ve put together seven examples that have the events industry buzzing right now. Read on to find out all about them, and expect to see them implemented at a fintech conference near you very soon!

Boosting Delegate Management With Facial Recognition

The rise of facial recognition technology is currently making significant changes to the events industry, and not without some controversy. In December 2018, a kiosk at a Taylor Swift concert was found to be gathering facial details of event-goers, in order to act as a countermeasure against certain security concerns, and to bolster the safety of both the performer in question and the massive crowd of attendees. While this technology is still somewhat in its infancy, and certain ethical questions regarding the ownership of such images need to be worked out, there’s no doubt about the fact that facial recognition tech is set to be a huge deal in 2019.

Facial recognition technology might have certain negative ramifications, but it isn’t difficult to see the positives associated with this new approach. These include:

  • Considerably more efficient check-in and registration for delegates and conference attendees (some popular theme parks are already seeing the benefits of this technology, and queues at airports have already been massively reduced, too).
  • Greater security, especially when it comes to spotting people on known security lists.
  • Faster and more efficient photo tagging for social media posts, leading to a greater online reach for event organisers.

Exploring Group Tech Experiences

There is a fascinating trend going on right now across the world: transforming what was previously considered ‘alone time’ into group and social experiences. Just think about it; playing video games in your living room now involves communicating with people across the globe, watching a movie in your bedroom can now be a shared experience with friends in multiple locations, and even a trip to anything from your local coffee shop to a football match can now be livestreamed and watched by millions.

This trend can feed into fintech conferences in two key ways:

  • Using live 360 degree video (linking up to the growing trend for VR experiences) to bring together remote audiences. Virtual event attendance is rising quickly, and online-only tickets are allowing people from all the world to ‘attend’ conferences which would otherwise be beyond their reach.
  • Creating powerful sharing content, or involving influencers who can spread the impact of your event on social media platforms. This often leads to the creation of a secondary event in itself, enjoyed by networks which can have an incredibly broad reach.

Introducing Voice Tech to Fintech Conferences

It’s almost bizarre how quickly we’ve become accustomed to voice-activated technology, not least with the meteoric rise of virtual assistants such as Alexa, who is currently shuffling playlists and activating lights and thermostats up and down the country. There’s no doubt in our minds whatsoever that we’ll start seeing voice tech more prevalently in events in 2019, and it’s pretty clear to see how voice tech is poised to enormously boost attendee engagement.

  • Use voice tech virtual assistants as information points throughout the conference hall. Want to find out where your next session is? Need to access train timetables on your way out? Virtual assistants should be able to make this seamlessly easy.
  • People are increasingly using voice tech not merely to gain information, but to carry out commands. Expect to see virtual assistants doing much more in 2019, such as actioning registrations and sign-ups, or even ordering food and drinks on your behalf.
  • Voice tech assistants will also be taking further steps to help attendees and to boost engagement. For example, an attendee might start by asking about the event timetable, only to discover the assistant then following up this query by asking whether the attendee would like to be registered for upcoming sessions or workshops.
  • Complete integration of RFID devices or name badges, giving the assistant the ability to ‘recognise’ attendees as they approach, and having access to all they need to be even more helpful.

Smart Flooring

Smart mats and ‘clever flooring’ is a growing trend in the events industry, and it’s one of the most fascinating developments we’ve seen in recent years, with no shortage of possibilities for boosting marketing opportunities and increasing efficiency. Smart mats make data collection and analysis easier than ever, and allow events organisers to take their data gathering to the next level by:

  • Collecting data from critical areas around the conference venue by measuring footfall and attendee concentration.
  • Increasing sponsorship opportunities by using clever flooring to clearly show traffic numbers, real time data collection, and demonstrating the flow of footfall through a venue. This allows you to take your sponsorship pitches away from the generic, and more into specific numbers that speak for themselves.

Chatbots for Exit Surveys

Chatbots are brilliant for matching together questions with answers, and using ‘if, then’ pathways for truly efficient data collection. As such, they’re the ideal tools for your exit surveys, which many event organisers have historically struggled to gather from their attendees, and analyse effectively. Simple chatbot stations are fun for attendees to use, and result in exit surveys which show clear data regarding how well your fintech conference went!

Interactive Event-Specific Apps

We’ve already seen plenty of brilliant specialised event apps over the past two years, and it seems this trend is long way from slowing down. 2019 is set to be the year that event attendees demand more personalisation and customisation than ever before from their tech, and launching specially-made event apps – that make a real difference to the attendee experience – is soon going to be a must-have for event organisers all across the globe.

One of the most impressive examples of site-specific apps we’ve seen recently was the Harry Potter-themed app launched by YourMembership, which was used by attendees at the 2018 Xperience conference. The gamified app saw massive spikes in attendee engagement, and undoubtedly made a huge impression on those who got involved and used it to heighten their event experience.

Augmented Reality for Sponsors

Sponsors are always looking for new ways to take their presentations and brand stories to the next level. The advent of augmented reality has thrown open the doors of possibility for how sponsors are able to connect with fintech event attendees, and it’s been thrilling to see them brought into practice at events across London and beyond. AR and VR are, in many ways, the 21st century’s version of neon signs, drawing the attention of attendees, and inviting a sense of wonder and heightened engagement. It also:

  • Grabs the attention by animating static objects, and injecting an element of fun and playability to otherwise uninspiring displays
  • Educates and entertains attendees, telling brand stories in entirely new ways and inviting interactions with the sponsors, thus increasing the sponsor’s ROI and impact

Fintech Conferences 2019: New Technologies, New Approaches, New Horizons

Top 8 Summer Conference Venues to Book in London

Summer is almost here, and so is the Summer conference season.

Summer conferences are a traditional part of the business year, and many large and successful firms regard an effective Summer conference as an important place to take stock of the past year, and to plan the next.

And so, as the days get longer, it is worth starting to think about venues for your Summer conference.

The ideal venue for a summer conference, whether large or small, should offer a few key features. It should be flexible enough to accommodate all of the activities you have planned, whether these be small break-out meetings or large presentations. You should also expect helpful and courteous staff who know what they  are doing: organising a large conference is stressful enough without having to do everything yourself.

And, of course, your summer conference venue should also have plenty of outdoor space, and provide a relaxing atmosphere for your guests.

With all this in mind, here at Venueseeker we’ve put together a list of the best summer conference venues. These range from small, intimate event spaces to large-scale venues. Each, though, has been hand-picked by our team, and comes with a guarantee of a relaxing, productive, and maybe even fun Summer conference!

The Brewery

The Brewery is a premium event and fine dining venue, and is located right in the heart of the city of London. This venue prides itself on its respect for tradition, and if you are looking for a flavour of old London it’s hard to beat.

The knowledgeable and professional team at the Brewery can accommodate any scale of event, from small team dinners to large annual conferences. The atmosphere is quite formal, but this can be a great advantage if you are inviting guests from overseas, because you can present them with a taste of traditional London hospitality.

Don’t let the respect for tradition fool you, though: The Brewery is also a modern, flexible business space that can provide you with all the equipment and entertainment your team needs for a Summer conference.

Century Club

The Century Club is a private member’s club in Soho. Though it has the exclusive atmosphere of a private club, it also offers rooms for hire, and has become a very popular venue for small Summer conferences.

The value of the Century Club is its flexibility. No matter what kind of Summer event you are planning, the Century Club has a space that is perfect for your needs. Their facilities range from professional (and very beautiful) meeting rooms, through lounge areas for more relaxed meetings, and even to a sophisticated and luxurious cocktail bar.

The piece de resistance, though, is undoubtedly the roof terrace. This is the largest rooftop terrace in Soho, and has stunning views over the city. It’s perfect for relaxing with your team in the Summer sunshine, and in bad weather the retractable roof will keep you dry.

Ham Yard Hotel

The Hamyard Hotel is probably the most beautiful hotel in London, and also makes a great venue for Summer events. Standing at the Mayfair end of Soho, the hotel feels like a country retreat in the middle of the city. At the heart of the hotel is a lush garden, filled with trees and sculptures, and making for a relaxing break from the hurly-burly of the surrounding city.

The Hamyard Hotel also offers a huge variety of event spaces, ranging from an exclusive restaurant to a drawing room lined with books. Perhaps best of all, though, is the roof terrace, which offers gorgeous views of London, and is the perfect place to soak up some sun.

IET Savoy Place

The IET at Savoy Place is something of a rarity in London: a venue combining the charm of traditional English hospitality with a contemporary, innovative feel.

The value of the IET is the sheer scale of the events it can handle. It is a favorite venue for large award ceremonies thanks to the expansive theatres it offers, and its state-of-the-art conference facilities. If you are looking to convene a large Summer conference, either to get your whole team together or even to meet with your shareholders, the IET is perfect.

The OXO tower is an iconic landmark, having stood next to the river Thames for more than a century. After undergoing extensive (and award-winning) redevelopment over the past decade, the towers and wharfs that surround the tower now offer a stunning selection of retail and event spaces. If you are looking for a piece of period charm, without sacrificing the facilities of a modern conference venue, then the OXO2 is the place for you.

The stand-out feature of the OXO2 is the flexibility that the event space gives you for your Summer conference. The team have worked hard to provide their clients with a blank canvas, meaning that you can design the look and feel of your event from the ground up. This permits you a huge amount of creativity when it comes to planning your event.

Haberdashers Hall

If you are looking for the ultimate in historic charm, Haberdashers Hall is for you. Originally the meeting place for the Royal Company of Haberdashers, the spaces offered by this venue come packed with period features: think large oil portraits, walnut meeting tables, and chairs from a hundred years ago.

Haberdashers Hall is a popular venue for all types of events, from Weddings to Christmas parties. It is also perfect for a summer conference, because at the heart of the building lies a historic orangery and garden. This calm oasis is great for creating the kind of relaxed atmosphere that you want for your Summer event.

Stationers Hall

Like Haberdashers Hall, the Stationers Hall is a historic part of the fabric of London life. The flexible meeting rooms are packed with period features, and the venue feels more like an Oxbridge College than a corporate venue.

The Stationers Hall offers a huge range of different rooms, from those suitable for one-on-one meetings to the main hall, which can seat up to 200 people. Best of all, the knowledgeable staff at the Hall have plenty of experience in planning all kinds of events, and can give you plenty of advice and help in making sure that your summer conference goes smoothly.

The Perfect Summer Conference

Of course, booking a beautiful venue is only the first step in planning a successful summer conference. You will also need to think about catering, and creating the perfect mix of professionalism and relaxation that characterises the best summer events.

Booking a great venue, though, is an important first step in planning your summer conference. By providing the right atmosphere, you can really inspire your team, and here at Venueseeker we are devoted to helping you do so.

If you’ve been inspired by the venues we’ve mentioned above, give us a call today, and we can help you to plan your perfect summer conference!

Top 8 Summer Party Venues in the City of London

A great Summer party begins with choosing a great venue. Party can be a huge undertaking, particularly when it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere for your guests. By choosing the right venue, you can let the venue itself do most of the work.

Though everyone loves the chance to relax and socialise in the sunshine, summer parties are about far more than just sipping champagne in the sunshine. Many successful companies use their summer parties as an important networking opportunity, or as a place for their staff to get together outside the confines of the office.

When it comes to choosing a venue for your summer party, you have plenty of options. Luckily, whether you are looking for historic charm, contemporary design, or simply a huge space that can accommodate hundreds of guests, here at Venueseeker we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ll run through all of our favourite event spaces for summer parties in the city of London.

If any of them catch your eye, just give us a call and we can discuss how to make your event the best summer party ever!

Savage Garden

Savage Garden is an unashamedly opulent venue that manages to combine the best in contemporary design with a dash of old-school charm. Located in the DoubleTree hotel that stands next to the iconic Tower of London, Savage Garden includes a variety of spaces that are just perfect for summer parties.

Among these is a luxurious dining room, ‘Ferus’, with stunning views and equally stunning food. This private dining room can seat up to 40 for a seated dinner, and features floor-to-ceiling windows that mean that in the Summer it is flooded with light.

Perhaps the best feature of Savage Garden, when it comes to summer parties, is the ‘Wildside’ terrace. This sun-drenched terrace can seat up to 120 people, and has a retractable roof just in case the notorious British weather lets you down.

Haberdashers Hall

Haberdashers Hall is a truly unique venue. Originally the headquarters of the Royal Company of Haberdashers, this historic venue is dripping in period charm. Think wood panelling, antique chairs, and oil portraits of famous haberdashers of the past.

As a venue for a summer party, Haberdashers hall has several key features. Among these is the garden and orangery (yes, an orangery!) that lies at the centre of the building. This green space is a welcome oasis of calm in the middle of the big city and is guaranteed to provide a relaxing space for your guests to enjoy the long Summer evenings.

Haberdashers Hall is also a very flexible space, suitable for meetings and formal dinners as well as more informal occasions.

Ace Hotel

Ace Hotel is a boutique hotel in Shoreditch. Like Shoreditch itself, this contemporary space is trendy, but unlike the surrounding area it is also quite luxurious!

If you are looking to impress your guests with your knowledge of the coolest parts of London, then look no further than the Ace Hotel. It offers sun-drenched rooms that are perfect for Summer parties, and a bar that comes stocked with all the latest (and trendiest) drinks.

Best of all, the Ace Hotel also has a killer roof terrace with views over the City. This space is perfect for catching a little sunshine, but also retains a professional atmosphere that makes it perfect for corporate parties.

Jin Bo Law at The Dorsett Hotel

Jin Bo Law is ‘the’ cocktail bar in London. Resident expert mixologist Davide Valvano oversees a bar that offers everything from classics such as Negronis and Mojitos, through to his own innovative (and delicious) creations.

Don’t be intimidated, though: the staff at Jin Bo Law are experienced and courteous, and will help you to navigate the huge range of drinks on offer. If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary for your summer party, what could be better than introducing your guests to drinks they have never tried before?

This is to say nothing of the view. Jin Bo Law is located on the 14th floor of the Dorsett City Hotel in Aldgate, and as you would expect, it has stunning views over the city, including Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

The Brewery

The Brewery is something of a London legend, and manages to combine respect for tradition with a contemporary approach that makes it perfect for both social events and corporate summer parties.

The huge advantage of The Brewery when it comes to summer parties is the flexibility it offers. With rooms of all sizes, the knowledgeable staff can help you create exactly the right feel for your event, whether you are planning an office party or a birthday party.

The Brewery is also a great choice if you are inviting guests from overseas, because it offers a taste of ‘Real London’ whilst still feeling fresh and contemporary. And though the British are not known for their food, the fresh take on British classics offered by The Brewery is perfect for any summer party!

Aviary is a contemporary event space that aims to offer the best of modern design with a dash of Old London charm. It has quickly become a favourite among the businessmen and women of the City of London, but also has much to offer for more informal summer parties.

The heart of the Aviary lies the Glass Box. As its name suggests, this reception room is completely surrounded by windows. And, thanks to the Aviary’s location in Finsbury Square, the Glass Box offers amazing views of the city (and beyond).

Unlike some other venues, the Aviary also offers rooms for guests. In fact, these are some of the best hotel rooms in London, with some offering private balconies overlooking the city. This is perfect if you are inviting guests from around the world (or just the country).

‘HAC’ stands for the ‘Honorrable Artillery Company’, a venerable old London organisation that has been around for centuries now. Their venue is something to behold: a gorgeous Georgian house set in a five acre garden, but still just a couple of minutes walk from Moorgate.

If you are looking for period charm, you can’t go far wrong with the HAC. The building itself offers flexible rooms, from intimate spaces for 10 people right up to the ‘Prince Consort Rooms’, which seats 400 guests.

And then there is the garden, which is perfect for summer parties. This garden feels like a piece of the countryside in the middle of the city, and is sure to encourage your guests to relax.

Queen of Hoxton

Last up is something a little different! The Queen of Hoxton was a respected old pub in the East End of London, but is now one of the trendiest venues around. It regularly puts on art and music events, and so has gained a reputation as one of the coolest places in the city.

For summer parties, the Queen of Hoxton offers everything you could possibly desire. There is a killer cocktail bar and a variety of spaces to accommodate parties of all sizes, one of which has a retro dance floor for you to show off your moves. There is a restaurant serving a huge variety of British classics and cozy booths from which you can watch the live music. Best of all is the roof terrace, which has great views of the City.

London’s Cosiest Restaurants

There’s a real nip in the air out there, and the capital is full of people scurrying quickly between buildings and tube stations, keen to spend as little time as possible outdoors. Who can blame them? If you’re anything like us, all you can really think about right now is hibernating on the sofa, accompanied only by a plateful of carbs and some hot chocolate… but that’s not the way to make the most of the colder months. Luckily for all of us, there are dozens of fantastic cosy restaurants in London, perfect for keeping the winter blues away, and for enjoying some seriously warming food and drink!

Whether you’re looking for cosy Italian restaurants, cosy romantic restaurants, or just somewhere to escape the icy blasts of wind rushing down the streets, there’s plenty of superb options to choose from. Here in London, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to warm little hideaways, serving up the kind of nourishing, homely, and thoroughly warming fare you need to make it through this time of year, and if you’re looking for a reason to head out into town we can’t think of a better one than checking out some top food and drink.

At Venueseeker, we’re always keeping our ears close to the ground and exploring the latest dining options for Londoners. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the world of cosy London restaurants, and give thanks that we live in a city that was built to withstand the chilly weather!

The Jugged Hare, The Barbican

Step inside the Jugged Hare on Chiswell Street, and you’re immediately transported into a world of Victorian elegance and homeliness, of the sort this part of London does so very well. It’s a sea of cosy varnished wood, quirky taxidermy items, and the kind of atmosphere that lets you know you’re going to be very well looked after indeed. As far as London gastropubs go, The Jugged Hare has built up a powerful reputation in the city, based upon excellent service, delicious traditional foods, and exactly the sort of cosy atmosphere we all want at this time of year.

As for food and drink, if you consider yourself a bit of a foodie with a taste for traditional classics cooked to perfection, you’re going to love what’s on offer at The Jugged Hare. Specialising in seasonal game meats, this gastropub has a kitchen team which knows its way around a pheasant… and which isn’t afraid to stick their necks out with surprising items like squirrel croquettes, too. For those looking for something a little more familiar, they offer plenty of excellent steaks, and some delicious veggie options, too.

What to choose for maximum cosiness: It’s got to be their house special, the eponymous jugged hare. Served with mash, cabbage, and bacon, and with a pint of stout on the side, it’s a warm cuddle on a plate.

Clos Maggiore

If you’re looking for a romantic cosy restaurant in London, serving utterly wonderful continental cuisine, then Clos Maggiore is an eatery which ticks all the boxes very well indeed. The French very much know what they’re doing when it comes to serving up refined and comforting food, and we struggle to think of a better restaurant in which to while away the hours when the mercury is plummeting in the thermometers!

Elegant, beautiful, stylish, and packed full of wonderful surprises, Clos Maggiore is a delight for all the senses. While their Southern French, Spanish, and Italian dishes are perfect for colder days, there’s no reason why this restaurant wouldn’t become a favourite for all the year round, so brilliant and ingenious is their use of high-end ingredients. Whether you’re on a first date or an anniversary dinner (or just fancy popping in somewhere wondrously romantic for a warming meal), it’s sure to be a hit this winter.

What to choose for maximum cosiness: Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike will love the rich flavours of the oven roasted artichoke dish, served with chervil root and salsify; a winter celebration of all the garden’s big hitters.

The Coral Room, Bloomsbury Hotel

You just know you’re in good hands at the restaurant and bar of the Bloomsbury Hotel. As one of London’s most prestigious and impressive locations, it shines with a sophisticated vintage ambience, and if you want to squirrel yourself away on a cold and blustery day, it’s hard to think of a better place to be. Kick things off with one of their signature cocktails or a glass of their superb English sparkling wine, and then let their legendary service delight you with a range of light bites or brunch options. Heaven!

In many ways, The Coral Room is a truly ideal cosy restaurant in London for chilling out and enjoying the warmth, especially when accompanied by a friend or two. Bar snacks, lunch items, nibbles, and savoury treats aplenty await, meaning you can really luxuriate in a selection of delicious items alongside the awe-inspiring drinks on offer. Perfection!

What to choose for maximum cosiness: Few things warm the belly quite like a well cooked pork dish, and the 100% acorn fed Iberico pork fillet served at The Coral Room each lunchtime is an absolute delight to the senses. Pair it with an English sparkling wine, and follow it with a whisky, and you won’t give a jot about the weather outside!

Ever wanted to burrow underground in the winter, and feel an urge to escape from the cold weather and chilly winds? You’re far from alone, and you’re sure to be delighted by the brilliantly eccentric Cahoots – one of London’s most original cosy bars, which takes you back to the 1940s and the vibrancy of the ‘blitz spirit’. Based in an abandoned underground station beneath bustling Soho, Cahoots is a doorway into another time and place, and it offers delicious drinks, light bites, and fun by the bucketload.

The warm lighting, the leather banquettes, the dark-stained retro wood… everything at Cahoots has been meticulously designed to appear as cosy and classy as can be. Every Saturday, they arrange their iconic ‘squiffy picnic’ – a riotous mix of cocktails and British finger food classics – and each Sunday is afternoon tea day, resplendent with cakes, cuppas, and cocktails. What could be better?

What to choose for maximum cosiness: When the wind is blowing icy gales through Soho, head underground to enjoy richly filled sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pies, a pot of tea, and a nip of gin. It really doesn’t get much cosier than that!

Tonight Josephine

Who says that cosy restaurants in London have to be laid-back? The ever-exciting Tonight Josephine in Waterloo and their newest venue in Shoreditch, manages to strike the perfect balance between the chilled and the upbeat. Inspired by the decadence and delights of Empress Josephine herself – a woman who certainly knew how to party – it’s a favourite haunt of London’s movers and shakers. Indeed, if you fancy luxuriating in some perfectly mixed cocktails on a cold day, it’s your one-stop shop of sensory delights.

Whether you’re popping in for a coffee, a glass of wine, or one of their signature cocktails, the ambience at Tonight Josephine is sure to make you quickly forget about the chill outdoors. Sit back on one of their comfy chairs, enjoy some great music, sip at your drink, and know that all is well with the world.

What to choose for maximum cosiness: You’re not going to find a hearty roast dinner at this trendy venue, but they do make a killer espresso martini with Eristoff vodka, Patron XO Cafe, Kahlua, and top-notch coffee. Perfect for warming the belly and setting you up for some dancing!

Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration

There’s no shortage of wonderful things to look at and enjoy for those who opt for an afternoon or evening in the company of Mr. Fogg. This fantastically eccentric venue has been a huge hit since opening, and it isn’t difficult to see why: with its assorted Victoriana and dedication to stylish, elegant quirkiness, it’s the kind of place you won’t forget in a hurry… and which you’re sure to return to again and again.

Step into the Jules Verne-inspired fantasy land of the Society of Exploration, and your curiosity will be rewarded with a feast for all the senses! There’s just so much to look at and enjoy at this bizarre London cosy restaurant and bar, and the food and drink absolutely live up to expectations. From brunches to lunches, and from fascinating gin concoctions to barroom classics, this venue – one of the latest to come from the growing Mr. Fogg’s brand – really does have something for everybody.

What to choose for maximum cosiness: If you’re after drinks with a friend in this London cosy restaurant, you’d be wise to opt for one of the signature gin cocktails. As for food, it’s impossible to resist one of Mr. Fogg’s legendary Sunday Lunches –  a cornucopia of savoury delights, served with a handful of (unsurprisingly) eccentric extras!

Event Entertainment Ideas Guaranteed to Surprise Your Guests

Every great party deserves to go off with a real bang: you could say that’s the unofficial motto of all of us here at Venueseeker. However, in order to achieve the right kind of memorable impact, all good party organisers need to think outside the box, take a look at the hottest trends in events right now, and come up with party entertainment ideas which take their attendees away from their everyday lives.

Unusual party entertainment is a surefire way to ensure your event really hits the high notes, encourages maximum audience engagement, and has a strong chance of going viral on social media. It’s fair to say that today’s guest are more demanding than ever before when it comes to party entertainment ideas, and event organisers really need to do all they can to consistently up the ante, and guarantee they’re constantly surprising and amazing their guests. With a bit of ingenuity, a sprinkling of inventive style, and a willingness to always go the extra mile, it’s truly amazing what you can achieve… and we’re always finding ourselves impressed with the big and small flourishes that party organisers are arranging for their attendees’ entertainment.

Inspiration:  Prohibition Party at Bart’s

Everyone loves a secret shindig, and few places in London pull of the roaring twenties vibe of prohibition, speakeasies, and secret dens quite like Bart’s. The prohibition era is a hot trend to follow right now, and it rides on the back of classic novels and films like The Great Gatsby, taking audiences back in time to an era of sharp suits, gangsters’ molls, and creative gin cocktails. What’s more, this party theme allows for some fantastically inventive party entertainment ideas, sure to get guests smiling and having a riotously good time. Just make sure the cops don’t hear about it… this is one party theme which needs to be kept on the lowdown!

Party Ideas

1920’s Dress Up

You can’t have a 20’s themed prohibition party without encouraging every attendee to get into the swing of things, and get creative with their fancy dress. Think zoot suits, feather boas, cocktail dresses, flapper costumes, and trilby hats… the more outrageous and authentic the better!

Photo Booth

Seeing as the attendees are going to dressed up to the nines, it would be a real shame not to allow them to capture the revelry and their finery with a photo booth. The latest generation of photo booths feature social media connectivity, meaning all of those wild and riotous photos and all those incredible costumes will get automated uploaded online, complete with your event hashtag. Sorted!

Inspiration: Spring Fling at Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals

Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals is one of London’s most distinctive and popular party venues. Wearing its eccentricity on its sleeve is one of Mr. Fogg’s key selling points.

Taking its cues from a nostalgic English tea party (by way of Lewis Carroll’s twisted Wonderland fantasies, no doubt), a Spring Fling gives attendees a chance to enjoy some authentic escapism into a world of fine cocktails, party dresses, and a childlike sense of wonder and amazement. Turning back the clock never looked so cool!

Party Idea

Bespoke Cocktails

The past couple of years has seen the worlds of mixology and fine, unique, and unusual spirits take off in a big way. If you’re looking for a sophisticated party idea which brings a real sense of creativity and distinction to your event, then arranging a bespoke set of cocktails is a fantastic way to keep your attendees happy. You can either hire a talented mixologist or cocktail expert to whizz up some new twists on old favourites, or you could invent a ‘signature’ cocktail for your event… something which always piques the interests of your crowd. Want to check out the top cocktail trends for 2019? This article lays them out nicely!

Inspiration: Murder Mystery at the Den

The Den has got to be one our favourite cosy venues in London, and it’s one which celebrates a peculiarly British eccentricity when it comes to its decor, its cocktail menu (again, gin features heavily here!), and the kind of events that it hosts. Warm, sophisticated, and with the kind of atmosphere that puts you in mind of an Agatha Christie novel, it’s hard to think of a better place to get involved in a Murder Mystery event.

Party Idea

Murder Mystery

Murder mysteries are a brilliant party entertainment idea, which still draw in the crowds and add a fascinating and fun dimension to any occasion. They offer a type of escapism which genuinely takes your attendees away from their real lives, and have the ability to transport people to another time and place, and give them the chance to exercise their sleuthing and acting skills!

The best murder mysteries are those which tend to inhabit the ‘golden age’ of English murder; we’re talking Hercule Poirot on the Orient Express, Sherlock Holmes in Whitechapel, and Mrs Marple’s quiet brilliance in English idylls… and your attendees should be encouraged to inhabit their roles with real glee and enthusiasm, dressing up to look the part, and bringing some dramatic flourishes to the occasion. It’s the perfect way to while away an evening, and it’s guaranteed to bring plenty of surprises, and shocking twists and turns!

Inspiration: Generation Show at OXO2

Stylish, slick, and packed full of contemporary London charm, OXO2 is rightfully considered one of the capital’s most dynamic and sought-after events venues. Situated in an iconic location along the South Bank, it not only offers some of the best views in the city (not least at sun set), but the kind of blank canvas venue space that allows for anything to be realised in fantastic style. With fantastic bars and catering options, and the full gamut of AV equipment ready to amaze your attendees, it’s hard to think of a better events venue in a more spectacular setting.

Party Idea

Generation Show

Transport your guests back to the pastel-coloured days of classic Saturday night telly with a recreation of this much-loved TV game show classic. Featuring a wealth of zany activities and challenges, it’s a night of nostalgic entertainment and plenty of retro fun. You could get your attendees to try their skills at a potter’s wheel, or get them to do some speed painting, sausage making, or any other classic Generation game-style tasks… just don’t forget to have at least one cuddly toy on the prize conveyor for the ending!

This party entertainment idea ties in nicely with a retro fancy dress theme, too. This beloved show ran from the 70s through to the 90s, so take your pick from one of the classic eras, and ensure there are plenty of thematic features, such as a prize for best costume, a photo booth, and a retro disco to cap it all off!

Inspiration: Helter Skelter at Old Billingsgate

When it comes to top party venues in London, few locations can hold a candle to Old Billingsgate. Imposing, impressive, and brilliantly versatile, this venue has hosted all manner of lavish parties and events over the past couple of years, and continues to amaze with the incredible nights out that it offers. The vast 19th century structure is situated just next to London Bridge, and boasts an expansive space in which a wide range of barnstorming events can take place. Featuring plenty of period details, as well as contemporary flourishes and some of the most awe-inspiring AV setups in the city, Old Billingsgate parties are the stuff of legend in London!

Party Idea

A Night at the Circus

Your attendees will be blown away by a night of revelry, wild antics, and the carnival atmosphere that only a circus theme can provide. This party idea brings a real sense of childlike glee (as well as the potential for a more sinister edge, if you’re that way inclined), and the chance to try their hand at a range of circus skills and activities. Get some professional circus performers involved, and arrange for classes in small groups on juggling, plate-spinning, slackwire walking and the flying trapeze, and prepare yourselves for a show which will bring out talents your guests never knew they had!

Party Entertainment Ideas That Make a Massive Impact

Once you start thinking outside the box and checking out the coolest new party entertainment idea trends in London, it’s incredible how many great concepts you can quickly uncover. At the end of the day, today’s event attendees want something which whisks them away from the drudgery of their daily lives, and gives them plenty of moments to cherish, remember, and share on their social media walls!

At Venueseeker, we’re all about checking out the hottest venues, the coolest parties, and the most innovative new events ideas. Savage Garden, Tower Hill

Fancy a touch of real decadence for your Valentine’s dinner this year? Few places in London fit the bill quite as well as Savage Garden, the rooftop terrace of the DoubleTree Hilton which overlooks the Thames. From their stunning tables, you can watch the sunset over the city, and revel in their laid-back vibe and utterly glamorous setting.

Straddling the line between the urbane and the vintage, Savage Garden really is a masterpiece of interior design and inimitable London style. Marble flooring, plush velvet seating, tonnes of natural light and a bar stocked with the world’s finest spirits… what more could you possibly ask for when it comes to a romantic night out in overlooking the river? The dining options at Savage Garden are also perfect for a range of Valentine’s meals, too – from sharing platters to delicate afternoon teas, and from hearty mains to light, fresh, and vibrant salads, there really is something for everybody.

Ramp up the romanticism with: Tempura oysters (some say they are an aphrodisiac, after all…) accompanied by the Savage Garden Flambard Colada signature cocktail, made with rum and Ayala Champagne. Delicious!

Aqua Nueva, Regent Street

Situated on the ever-fashionable Regent Street, Aqua Nueva takes the chilled out elegance of traditional Spanish dining, and turns the dial up to eleven, London-style. Boasting a team of chefs who clearly take a huge amount of joy in reimagining Iberian classic dishes for the trendy city audience, this is one restaurant where you’re sure to be fed very well indeed any night of the year. However, on Valentine’s day, Aqua Nueva becomes one of the most romantic venues in London. Why? Because the rooftop terrace bar – all cosy seating, candlelight, and incredible city views – is, quite simply, to die for.

roof terraces to hire

As if sitting on a candlelit rooftop on Valentine’s day wasn’t romantic enough, the team at Aqua Nueva have created a stunning menu especially for the occasion, which shows off the drama and delicacy of Northern Spanish cuisine. Paired with a quality wines from the same region, the attentive staff and chefs will take you and your partner on a sensory journey which will surely never be forgotten… it really is that good!

Ramp up the romanticism with: Well, it’s got to be the Valentine’s Day set menu, which features a platter of the finest jamon, hand-dived scallops and crab, roasted porcini mushrooms, and fillet of Galician beef. One word: WOW.

St James Trafalgar Hotel

People from London know where the best place to be is at sunset and the chances are that they’ll speak excitedly about the roof terrace of the Trafalgar Hotel. It really is one of the most beautiful places to watch the lights of the city start to glow, and being above one of the most iconic city centres in the world is never anything but a truly luxurious treat. Relaxing on the deck of the rooftop bar promises not only romantic and unbeatable views, it also gives you and your lucky date the chance to sample a wide range of delicious bites to eat, and tastebud-tantalising cocktails to treat yourself with, too.

There’s a decidedly southeast Asian leaning to the menu at the Trafalgar, which – if you’re adventurous with your palate and willing to put yourself in the hands of the very capable chefs – is no bad thing at all. There’s a big emphasis on sharing dishes (which is a big romantic box ticked), and nibbles and finger foods, too. In short, if you’re looking for a Valentine’s restaurant in London which won’t leave you feeling too full and bloated to crack out your best moves later in the evening, this might just be the one for you.

Ramp up the romanticism with: Soft, pillowy, and packing a delicious punch of flavour, the steamed buns served at the rooftop of the Trafalgar Hotel are a sensual delight all of their own. Pair with a freshly-mixed French 75, made with vintage Taittinger Champagne, and you’re onto a winner.

Coq d’Argent, Bank

If you’re looking for a slick, stylish, and thoroughly modern Valentine’s day restaurant in London, then Coq d’Argent – in the heart of London’s glittering financial district – is guaranteed to satisfy. With its spacious and relaxed roof terrace, it’s the perfect place to gaze into one another’s eyes, while sipping a quality glass of perfectly served wine, and enjoying some truly impressive dishes on the most romantic night of the year.

Coq d’Argent manages to balance the formal and the laid back very well indeed, and specialises in the kind of French bistro-inspired dishes that set you up for a night of romance and new taste sensations. Their Valentine’s day tasting menu (which covers five delicious courses, and comes complete with amuse-bouche and petit fours, is one of the most impressive we’ve seen… so if you’re planning a night which shows off your impeccable foodie credentials, this restaurant might well be the one.

Ramp up the romanticism with: Pretty much everything on the Valentine’s Day menu looks utterly ravishing, especially as you get to enjoy it on their roof terrace, surrounding by beautiful architecture and the buzz of the city below. However, the sharing dish of beef wellington with black truffle pomme puree might just take the prize for most tempting romantic dish in the capital!

Madison, St Pauls

Dial up the romance in New York style at Madison, a slice of the Big Apple in the heart of London’s most elegant and stunning district. This beautiful restaurant boasts a roof terrace with views other restaurants would give an arm and a leg for, and when it comes to Valentine’s Day romance which goes off with a bang, this is one sophisticated eatery that’s genuinely hard to beat.

madison venue london

From the rooftop bar of Madisons, the view is dominated by the world-famous dome of St Paul’s Cathedral. Bathed in the golden glow of a London winter’s night, it’s a spectacular backdrop to what will surely be a memorable dining experience. Whether you opt for the restaurant’s signature grills and burgers, or choose something a little more genteel, you and your date will be delighted by this perfectly-situated rooftop restaurant which swings to the rhythms of a New York speakeasy.

Ramp up the romanticism with: The Valentine’s menu at The Madison looks like a real treat, but for our money, you can’t beat the lobster roll served at this NYC-inspired joint. Creamy white shellfish and an awe-inspiring dressing is guaranteed to get you feeling the love! Kick off the evening with one of the restaurant’s hot cocktails, such as the ‘Aromatic Genever’, and soak up the atmosphere. Perfection!

The Aviary, Finsbury Square

Ever had a romantic evening in an igloo? No, nor have we. However, the stylish Aviary in Finsbury Square can offer you exactly this, thanks to their beautiful glass pods on their roof terrace, meaning you can enjoy the incredible views of East London whatever the weather. Whoever came up with that idea is, frankly, nothing short of a genius.

However, genius is a word which is used more frequently than you might expect when it comes to The Aviary. Since opening, it has massively impressed London diners with its jaw-droppingly good cocktail menu and elegant food options, and thanks to the aforementioned roof terrace, it is regularly touted as one of London’s most romantic restaurants. Serving up reimaginings of classic London pub grub, alongside achingly trendy coal oven-cooked meat and fish dishes, The Aviary knows what it’s doing when it comes to big, bold, and unforgettable flavours. It’s hard to think of a better way of spending Valentine’s Day in London than at this beautiful rooftop restaurant, accompanied by dishes designed to utterly delight.

Ramp up the romanticism with: The whole sea bream, cooked over glowing coals, is about as close to love at first sight as a dish can get. Followed by the delicious spectacle of a mango pavlova to share, you’ve got a menu that’s sure to get hearts fluttering!

A bowl of vegan food

Vegan Restaurants London, Recommended By Vegans. Dive In!

Whether you’re already a committed cruelty-free foodie, or someone who is dipping their toes into the world of vegan eating (it is ‘Veganuary’, after all), there’s no doubt that London has dozens of incredible vegan dining options… and that number is only getting bigger. From classic London vegan restaurants, to mouth-watering vegan breakfast places in London, you’re absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to fresh and delicious food in the capital.

Veganism is definitely having its moment in the sun right now. A combination of high-profile campaigns, celebrity endorsements for an animal product-free lifestyle, and the undeniable fact that vegan food is healthy, delicious, and the perfect way to showcase great ingredients has made it the foodie movement of the moment. The old cliches of vegans being somewhat on the, well, radical side of the social spectrum have long since been broken down, and as we all become a bit more health-conscious and environmentally aware, vegan restaurants in London have taken off in a big way.

But which vegan food joints in the city have what it takes to cut the mustard? We decided to reach out to a few of our meat-and-dairy-free friends, bloggers, and contacts, and gather their top recommendations for eating out with a conscience. We were surprised and impressed by the range of options out there, and there’s no denying that the restaurants on our list are definitely not just for those following the lifestyle. With incredible flavours, fantastic dishes, and colourful, chilled, and enjoyable vibes all round, it’s hard to see how even the most dedicated carnivore could resist these vegan restaurants in London!

Check out our selection below, and start planning your next plant-based foray into London’s ever-evolving and ever-fascinating food scene. Forks at the ready…!

Mildreds, Various Locations

No list of vegan restaurants in London would be complete without Mildreds sitting right at the top. This plant-based institution has been shifting attitudes and serving up incredible dishes for almost thirty years in the heart of open-minded Soho, and its many fans and powerful reputation has seen the independent eatery roll out branches in three other London locations.

Ask any London vegan, and they’ll tell you that if you’re looking for vegan food that proves – beyond any shadow of a doubt – that cruelty-free food is anything but boring, then Mildreds is the place to go. While not strictly a vegan restaurant (they serve some vegetarian fare, including their much-loved halloumi burgers, and a couple of responsibly sourced chicken dishes), there’s a strong leaning towards the trend. Indeed, their vegan brunch menu is the stuff of legend.

If you’re going to try one dish: go for their Sri Lankan vegan curry. Made with sweet potato, cashew nuts, and green beans, it’s a party in your mouth you won’t forget in a hurry!

222 Veggie Vegan

When we were asking around for top vegan restaurants in London for a lazy, social lunch, 222 Veggie Vegan in West Kensington was the one all our contacts insisted made it onto the list. Why? Because for a tenner, you can enjoy their all-you-can-eat vegan lunch buffet, which promises to fill your belly with more healthy delights than you can shake a locally-sourced, ethically harvested stick at.

With a properly pan-global menu, taking in dishes from West Africa, South Asia, the Mediterranean and beyond, 222 Veggie Vegan is on a mission to introduce you to the best vegan food the world has to offer. What’s more, everything is low-salt and low-fat… meaning you can eat your fill, and feel great about it afterwards.

If you’re going to try one dish: try the Seitan stroganoff. It’s an ingenious use of the hottest vegan ingredient around right now, and a brilliant reimagining of a hearty dinner party classic.

Wulf & Lamb, Chelsea

While the name of this eatery might not sound so vegan-friendly at first, it comes from the restaurant’s motto: ‘run with the wolves, eat with the lambs’ – so that’s all right, then. Achingly trendy and attracting the cool Chelsea crowd with its stylish interiors and friendly, laid back service, this vegan restaurant has built up a powerful reputation on the back of it being one of the best vegan breakfast places in London.

Using responsibly sourced and regional ingredients, and ensuring every dish is designed to show off the pure, natural flavours that they have to offer, Wulf & Lamb is a real treat for the senses. From their awe-inspiring brunches, to hearty mains, and delicious desserts (seriously, their mango and passion fruit ‘cheesecake’ is to die for), this is definitely one for your must-visit list in Veganuary and beyond!

If you’re going to try one dish: It’s gotta be the Wulf Pie. Pulled jackfruit, stewed lentils, plenty of delicate spicing, and topped with mashed potato. What’s not to love?

Mooshies, Shoreditch

If you’re able to walk down Brick Lane without being tempted into one of the myriad delicious-smelling curry houses, it’s fair to say you’re made of stronger stuff than most of us. However, do so and you’re in for a meatless treat – the brilliant and innovative Mooshies, a vegan burger joint that’s proving that cruelty-free fast food is here, and it’s here to stay.

The great thing about Mooshies is that it’s the perfect introduction for anybody stepping into the vegan scene for the first time. Why? Simply because by ordering one of their hearty, delicious burgers, and by loading up on sides and fries, you’ll quickly realise that you’re not missing the meat. At all. In fact, you’ll be left wondering why you didn’t give it up sooner.

If you’re going to try one dish: While everything on the menu is as tempting as can be, the ‘Fillet-Om-Phish’ is impossible to resist. Panko-fried aubergine, tartar sauce, lettuce, seaweed, and vegan cheese, squashed into a tasty burger bun. ‘Nuff said.

Genesis, Spitalfields

As you step into Genesis’ tasteful, fashionable, millennial pink dining room, there’s no getting away from the fact that you’re slap-bang in the heart of London’s trendiest quarter. However, when the vegan food on offer is this good, you’ll quickly forgive the restaurant’s many hipster quirks as you dig right into the international fare on the menu.

Genesis is all about exploring the recipes of the world, and recreating them in ways that the meat-free denizens of London are sure to lap up… and boy, do they do it well. With Middle-Eastern market food rubbing shoulders with American diner dishes, and Thai classics meeting Italian favourites, there’s really something for everybody here. What’s more, it’s about as Insta-friendly as London dining gets in 2019, so make sure to charge your smartphone before leaving the house.

If you’re going to try one dish: Who doesn’t love a shawarma? If you’ve only ever chowed down on a doner after hitting the pub with your mates, it’s time to explore the possibilities of this fantastic dish… only without the weirdly anonymous grey meat. Trust us, Genesis have cracked this one!

Young Vegans, Camden

While we were chatting to our vegan friends in order to get top recommendations for this blog, we also got talking about the meat-based foods we’d miss were we to give them up altogether. Perhaps unsurprisingly for Londoners, pies were pretty high on the list. Guess what? Those plucky vegans had the answer, and it came in the shape of Young Vegans, a plant-based pie shop in the heart of Camden Town.

Packed full of flavour, and encased in surprisingly buttery pastry (given that, obviously, no butter is involved), the pies on offer at Young Vegans Pie Shop are a British treat that really satisfies. Slathered in gravy, sat on a bed of mash and minted peas, they’re utterly gorgeous and a fantastic option for a healthy(ish) lunch on the go when browsing the markets. Hats off!

If you’re going to try one dish: Young Vegans has a great range of exotic-sounding pies, but we’re suckers for the classics. The vegan steak and ale pie really does hit the spot every time.

By Chloe, Covent Garden and City

London has no shortage of American eatery imports, but By Chloe – now set up and buzzing in Covent Garden and Tower Bridge – is one which has been welcomed with open arms by the vegan community. Massively hyped (and fully deserving of it), By Chloe has brought a slick, efficient, and thoroughly attractive dynamic to the city’s meat-free and plant-based food scene, and tucking into their colourful dishes and delicious morsels is never anything but an absolute pleasure.

While a lot of the food on the By Chloe menu is heavily influenced by the restaurant chain’s US roots, they’ve impressed locals with vegan twists on British classics, too. Fish and chips and shepherd’s pie have been given a vegan makeover, and we’re all for this particular American invasion!

If you’re going to try one dish: It’s a hard choice, but we’d say the vegan breakfast and brunch options at By Chloe swing it every time. Scrambled tofu, veggie sausages and chorizo, greens and toast – get in my belly!

The Vurger Co, Shoreditch

Vegan burgers seem to be the number one choice for meat-free aficionados in London, proven by the fact that The Vurger Co has finally found a solid base in Shoreditch (after being a pop-up for years), and the queue is out the door on a daily basis. Using innovative techniques and a range of awesome ingredients, these burgers are filling, tasty, and sure to tick all the right boxes.

No burger joint would be complete without a lengthy list of scrumptious sides, and it’s in this regard that The Vurger Co really come into their own. Choose from vegan mac ‘n’ cheese, dirty fries, flawless onion rings, a list of tempting ‘mylkshakes’ and more, and you’ll be one happy eater, we promise you!

If you’re going to try one dish: The Holy Habanero lives up to its name, and delivers a divinely deep spice profile, while hitting the high notes with texture and overall deliciousness.
