The Victoria and Albert Museum
Any seasoned museum-goer in London knows that the V&A is quite simply the most delightful of all the London museums and galleries. With less tourist traffic than the major museums, it always provides interesting and offbeat exhibitions and its courtyard space and cafe are popular with Londoners when the summer sun is out on display.
However, most do not realise that the V&A can be hired out as a venue: as a museum focused on art and design, its beautiful interiors and exteriors make for a breath-taking backdrop for any kind of event. The John Madejski Garden is stunning on summer nights and the large spaces available make the V&A perfect for everything from canapé receptions to dinner dances.
This Grade I listed building may seem a strange choice for an event, but it has to be seen to be believed. The beautiful industrial style warehouse is now one of the premier alternative venues in London and its timber frames and open spaces make it perfect for large-scale events. The Tobacco Dock was once, as the name implies, a warehouse for Tobacco but it has since been renovated and now its dramatic atria are light and bright spaces wonderful for any kind of event.
Best of all, the Tobacco Dock also has outdoor quayside space along the water, giving you flexibility in your party arrangements.

Located in north London, this amazing building has incredible themed rooms which are perfectly whimsical without being cheesy, and are suitable for any kind of event. Obviously you can also choose to hire out a magician with your room but it is by no means required: you can enjoy all the whimsy this venue supplies with alternative entertainment if you’re not keen on illusions or tricks.
White Space is the ultimate minimalist venue and is a literal blank canvas waiting for your personal touch: these bright white rooms are illuminated with 1000 watt bulbs and are often used for artistic events, product launches and canapé receptions with a twist. Whether you want to let the bold, bare minimalism speak for itself or customise the space to your liking, White Space is a venue that can offer that and so much more – all a stones-throw away from Leicester Square.
